What is Valentine’s Day?
Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day, is celebrated annually on February 14. A lot about how the holiday came to be is still a mystery. It’s said to be named after a Catholic saint called, you guessed it, Valentine. It has been suggested that the holiday has origins in an ancient Roman festival and was forbidden at the end of the 5th century. The day started being celebrated as a day of romance by the 14th century.
How to celebrate the day
There is really no right or wrong way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. As of today, the holiday has very little to do with its religious background. It’s a day where many people choose to show extra appreciation for their loved ones. Or why not for life itself? Many people choose to buy flowers and chocolate. Lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts. If you don’t know what to do, just know that there are no rules, and you can spend the day however you want. Don’t forget self-love!
